EASTBOURNE SPORTS & ACTIVITIES SHOW - 7 MARCH 2010
This year it is expected that the Half Marathon entry will top 1000 runners for the first time, and to make the most of all the visitors and provide further entertainment for spectators and passers-by, a new attraction is being built into the event.
The Half Marathon starts and finishes in Princes Park which has masses of space for clubs, societies and commercial providers to showcase their specialisation, and right now the organisers are inviting interested parties to join in the Eastbourne Sports & Activities Show. Already there are reservations from Borough Football Club through to skaters, golf, martial arts, rowing etc and even The Eastbourne Bonfire Society.
Any similar organisations are welcome to make their interest known. The options for representation run through “market” stands, open space and have-a-go opportunities, and for clubs and societies the facility is completely free of charge. Commercial concerns will simply be asked to make a donation to the day.
The Half Marathon is organised by the Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Ashprint and the main sponsors, Reid+Dean. The Half Marathon usually raises about £15,000 sponsorship from the runners, and in recent years this has been used increasingly among local schools, clubs and charities to provide facilities as diverse as tepees, boxing equipment, scout equipment, summer schools and to support lambs in school projects.
